The Argentine Jewish community is the largest in Latin America and one of the largest in the world.
Most of the Jewish immigrants strove to become Argentine citizens and give their children the best education. Many attended university and graduated as doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers… And there were also many artists.
In this presentation we will talk about some of them, Jewish immigrants and their descendants: significant Jewish painters, sculptors, photographers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Visual artists. Women and men who started artistic movements, and/or whose works have been internationally recognized.
We will review their work, their life stories, and find out about their techniques, their ideas, their main subjects and their compromise with Argentine society, with Human Rights and with their Jewish roots.
