Itinerary 10: Buenos Aires and Historic Jewish Colonies

DAY 1: MONDAY

  • Arrival in Buenos Aires. Transfer to the hotel with private transport  for the group. If not arriving together, individual transfers will be arranged.
  • Check in, welcome talk for questions and suggestions.
  • Lunch on your own.
  • CITY TOUR SOUTH
    During this tour you will visit the main historical sites, as well as hidden corners of this culturally diverse and exceptional city. La Boca, neighborhood of soccer and tango; Plaza de Mayo, witness to all political events since the second foundation of Buenos Aires in 1580; Avenida de Mayo, the Spanish avenue, with its theaters and traditional coffee shops; the Congress building; Avenida 9 de Julio, the Obelisk; Puerto Madero, the most modern and chic area, with its exclusive restaurants, bars and hotels overlooking the river.
  • FREE EVENING (we will provide suggestions of restaurants depending on your personal interests)

DAY 2: TUESDAY

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • CITY TOUR NORTH w/stop for lunch
    Recoleta, with its elegant French style, where the unique cemetery which contains Evita’s mausoleum, coexists with bars, artisans’ fairs, restaurants and elegant boutiques.
    Palermo: Rose Garden, luxurious mansions and wonderful parks.
    Private transport, guide and tickets to the Cemetery are included.
  • TANGO SHOW + DINNER
    Pick up at 7:30 pm. Drop off after the show. This activity includes private transfer and dinner with non-alcoholic beverages & wine.

DAY 3: WEDNESDAY

  • ESTANCIA DAY
    On this tour you will be able to enjoy a day surrounded by the natural environment of an Argentine ranch, discover every corner of the estancia, ride horses, and relax.
    At noon you will be served delicious empanadas and asado accompanied by excellent Argentine wines. Later you can take walks through the park, let yourself be carried away by the charm of a carriage ride or horseback ride. You will also experience a typical gaucho show.

DAY 4: THURSDAY

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • JEWISH TOUR w/ stop for lunch on your own
    The Buenos Aires Jewish community is one of the largest in the world and its heritage remains very much preserved. I will introduce you to the unique features of the Buenos Aires Jewish culture. The AMIA building, the AMIA Memorial, the Israeli Embassy, the oldest Synagogue in Buenos Aires, with its Jewish Museum, and Once (the typical Jewish neighborhood). During the tour you will learn everything about the Jewish community in Argentina; immigration waves, policies towards Jews, life, and history of the Jewish people in Buenos Aires.
    Private transport, guide and entrance fee to the Jewish Museum are included.

  • GROUP DINNER

DAY 5: FRIDAY

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • FREE MORNING
  • Transfer to HISTORIC JEWISH COLONIES in comfortable bus (250 miles)
  • Quick lunch on your own
  • Check in at the hotel.
  • KABBALAT SHABBAT and DINNER with members of the community.

DAY 6: SATURDAY

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Departure towards VILLA CLARA
    Visit to Hebrew School
    LUNCH WITH THE COLONIA CLARA COMMUNITY
    Colonia Clara-Bélez Museum. Bet Yaacov Synagogue.
  • Transfer to VILLA DOMINGUEZ, headquarters of the Jewish Colonization Association.
    Railway Station, Dr. Yarcho Hospital, Synagogue, Immigrant Hotel
    Guided visit to the Museum of Jewish Colonization with its director, the historian Osvaldo Quiroga.
    Visit to the founders´ old cemetery and the oldest synagogue in the province.
  • DINNER ON YOUR OWN. Options suggested by guide.

DAY 7: SUNDAY

  • Breakfast at the hotel and check out
  • Transfer to BASAVILBASO
    Tour of the city, Arbeter Shul, Lucienville Cooperative, Monuments to Baron Hirsch and Immigration.
    Visit to old “synagogue-ranch” in the countryside and settlers´ houses.
    Historic Tfilá LeMoshé Synagogue, built by artisans.
    LUNCH AT A FAMILY HOUSE
    Visit to the Old cemetery
  • Return to BUENOS AIRES
  • DINNER ON YOUR OWN

DAY 8: MONDAY

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • FREE MORNING AND LUNCH
  • ART TOUR
    Visit to Museums and to the Colon Opera House.
    Options: Drop off at a Shopping Mall or back to the hotel
  • EVENING: COOKING CLASS WITH FAMOUS ARGENTINE CHEF + FAREWELL DINNER
    Private transport, dinner and beverages included

DAY 9

  • Breakfast at the hotel and check out
  • Private transfer from your hotel to Ezeiza International Airport to fly back home
